Do You Like Cheese? Eat some for Free this weekend!

Do you like cheese? Until saturday, Complexe Desjardins is celebrating quebec cheese! Taste 50 cheeses for FREE! I went on Thursday and it was great! Lots of choice to taste and buy!

What to do in Montreal | Cheese festival (free)

My favorites were as follows:

- Best soft cheese (style Brie): L'Adoray from Fromagerie Montebello. It was very woodsy flavored by an actual piece of wood in the packaging.

- Best Stinky Cheese: tie between Le Peribonka from Fromagerie La Normandinoise & Tete a Papineau from Fromagerie Les Pascal Grondines

- Best Hard cheese: Alfred Le Fermier aged 2 years. Really enjoyed the complex earthy nutty flavor & grainy texture.

- Best Blue Cheese: Bleu d'Elizabeth from Fromagerie du Presbytere. Salty, creamy, tangy with complex flavors. Sydney's favorite cheese ever. (Special mention to Bleu Benedictin from Fromagerie de Saint-Benoit du Lac. Very earthy taste of wild mushrooms.)

- Best with Beer: Grilled Fleur Saint-Michel from Fromagerie du Terroir de Bellechasse. Garlicky, salty and ouzy halloumi style cheese to grill. (special mention to the Beer flavored cheese fondue recipe from 1001 Fondues)

- Best flavor combination: Argousier & Poivre from Fromagerie du Terroir de Bellechasse. floral but spiced, love the combo. (special mention to Sydney's favorite barbecue sauce cheddar from Missiska)

- Unique product : Fresh day's cheese at Fromagerie Missiska, as well as their 3 week aged fresh cheese. Like a very soft light feta or thicker ricotta.

- Trendiest cheese: Cendre' cheeses : they are usually soft cheese covered in ash/cinders or semi-firm cheese sandwiching layers of ash/cinders within.
